  • Sean A. McConnell

    All of my clients have suffered a tragedy, but none of them ever give up. I channel that bravery and grit and fight hard to get my clients justice.” Heart is the word that describes Sean’s approach to his clients’ cases. Sean is sensitive to the personal struggles and inspired by the resilience of those who have been seriously injured or lost a loved one due to negligence. He is compassionate to the challenges his clients face and channels their determination when advocating in the courtroom. Sean comes to us by way of New York City, where he was born and raised. He received his JD from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in 2009 and his Bachelor of Arts degree from Catholic University of America in 2006, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. In law school, Sean was named a Public Interest Fellow and interned at the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office. After law school, Sean worked for a well-respected New York Supreme Court Judge and then joined a premier plaintiff’s personal injury firm in Manhattan. There, he focused on medical malpractice cases and second-chaired two high profile trials – one of which resulted in one of the largest personal injury verdicts in New York history. Sean is admitted to the Texas and New York State Bars, and has handled all types of personal injury cases, including medical malpractice, wrongful death, products liability, and car and 18-wheeler truck accidents. He has recovered substantial settlements and verdicts for his clients. Sean was named a “Top 40 Under 40” by the National Trial Lawyers Association and has been named a Rising Star by Super Lawyers. Super Lawyers is a rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. The selection process includes independent research, peer nominations and peer evaluations. The “rising star” designation is awarded to those under the age of forty. Outside of the office, Sean enjoys traveling the world with his wife and is an avid fan and player of basketball.

    Throughout my legal career I have only represented real people and that was by choice. Malcolm Gladwell once wrote ‘the act of facing overwhelming odds produces greatness and beauty.’ Being at the side of my clients as they face these types of odds has given me a front row seat from which I can watch greatness and beauty being produced in them. What a privilege!” JT started his career as a criminal defense attorney, representing people from all different levels of society, from homeless juveniles to police officers. In 2010, by chance, JT’s practice shifted gears. Always dedicated to helping those in need, JT agreed to assist a friend on a case involving the death of a nursing home resident. JT quickly mastered the legal and medical implications of a nursing home negligence claim and has since become a leader in the field. JT has given seminar presentations to medical malpractice attorneys from Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Kentucky, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, and Virginia. JT has also been recognized by his peers as being one of the leading medical malpractice attorneys in Austin in a poll taken by Austin Monthly magazine in 2020 and 2021. Each legislative session in Texas, JT serves on TTLA’s Medical Malpractice Bill Review Committee, and, on several occasions, TTLA has asked him to lobby Texas state Representatives and Senators on medical negligence issues. JT was born in Greenville, South Carolina. His father was in the ministry, which led to his family moving often. JT has lived in South Carolina, Pennsylvania, Florida, Illinois, and Texas. Although most of his time is devoted to being an attorney, JT is a devoted family man. He and his wife have been married since 1987 and they have been blessed with two wonderful children and two grandsons, so far.
